The United States Army Corps of Engineers took control of the Granger Lake flood reserve on the San Gabriel River in central Texas in 1980 to prevent communities downstream from being flooded. This area is known for its recreational activities, and choosing one of the three RV parks around Granger Lake is a great way to enjoy yourself while you are there.

Locations

Wilson H. Fox Park, Taylor Park and Willis Creek Park are the few RV parks in the Granger Lake area. Granger Lake is located between the small towns of Taylor and Granger, northeast of Austin.

Area Information

Granger Lake is located in Williamson County, Texas. In 1980, a flood swept through the area and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers subsequently took control of the area and made it into a flood control reserve. It maintains the recreational facilities and controls any flood situations that may arise.

Local Activities

Camping, bird watching, horseback riding and hiking are popular in the scenic area, as well as boating, swimming, water skiing and fishing in the lake itself. There are convenient boat launch ramps around the lake for easy boating access. Willis Creek has miles of horse trails to explore, Taylor Park has a trail museum that you can check out, and Wilson H. Fox Park has easy access to the area hiking trails.

Accommodations

Full or partial electrical and water hook-ups are available at the RV parks in the area. Fire pits, restrooms, showers, picnic areas, dump stations and play areas for the children are also available at the local Granger Lake RV parks to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Reservations can be secured for the three RV parks.

Closure Notices

It is advisable to check for local road and facility closures around Granger Lake due to weather, construction, floods and water contaminants. You can contact The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, for more information on current conditions in the area and the RV park of your choice.

So nice to be here again. Patricia and Thomas are so nice and accommodating. It is always clean and they hire people who are helpful and customer service orientated. The showers are always clean... 6/17/2021

Our favorite of all the KOAs we visited, by far. They all have their own charms, but the staff were lovely, the trees were beautiful, and the amenities were the best - including Jenny the donkey... 6/5/2021

We've stayed at many KOA's over the years. This one was very accommodating. We arrived late to our site... 5/1/2021

WE LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR STAY- THE WONDERFUL HOSTS, STAFF, FACILITY AND CAMPING CABIN. We will be back!!!! 10/14/2021

in late , out early worked out for me. 10/14/2021

We have stayed in over 40 RV Campgrounds this year and this was best ever!!!!!! 10/14/2021

Friendly checkin, clean restrooms, short stay but we will be back 10/13/2021

The tent area is the nicest that I have ever stayed in. I really appreciated having a little more privacy than usual while tenting. It was also nice to have an option of being covered on the site of the weather we’re bad... 10/13/2021

Convenient location and well maintained campground. 10/12/2021

Well organized peaceful campground. Facilities were well kept/clean. Would likeore parking near bathroom especially handicap entrance. Would of been nice to have a heads up that bike rentals weren't available 10/12/2021

Thomas helped us get into our site, there was a tree that was a little close. The cable male connection was stripped and Thomas happily took care of that. All of the employees are friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back. Great park, great staff. 10/12/2021

This KOA is fabulous! The hosts and helpers are great and the campground is immaculate. The location gives us easy access to things we like to do in the area. We stay here often and always look forward to our next visit. 10/12/2021

Beautiful campground and wonderful staff. I cannot say enough about this campground!! We will defiantly be coming back again! 10/11/2021

Love this campground and the family that runs it. We come back every year. The hosts are very kind and attentive and always around making sure guests are cared for. Clean quiet and friendly. See you all next year! 10/11/2021

We paid for a deluxe cabin. Everything was wonderful except for the shower. It was useless. You could not control the water temp. We stayed in 305 and the water was either burning hot, putting my child at risk, or freezing. 10/11/2021

It was awesome. Everyone was so kind. Very clean. A shout out to Thomas and Pam. 10/11/2021

First time with our 38’ coach to a campground. The staff was awesome and met us at the gate and ushered us exactly to our spot!!!! Amenities were top shelf and entire setting was beautiful 10/11/2021

Very impressed with the layout and upkeep of this KOA! Truly enjoyed the nature walk with the dog. Will be putting this on my visit again list. 10/11/2021
