Verizon not honoring promotion

Verizon not honoring promotion DEFAULT

Has anyone else run into a problem about not honoring agreed upon pricing and poor customer service? If yes, how did you handle it?

In January I received a text about an upgrade promotion. The website was not working so I called instead.  We had not been looking to upgrade or phones but with the promo that was sent to us and the 2 other promos the call representative brought to our attention, we decided to make the upgrade. The total bill was going to be around $120/month. After 3 months of receiving a $165 bill, spending over 9 hours on the phone, being bounced between over 10 different representatives, and spending several more hours through the digital chat, I was only just now able to get the bill down to $130. The first several hours were them basically calling me a liar. I even told them ton pull the audio from when the order was placed, but no rep would entertain the idea. The remainder involved them telling me that the rep shouldn't have given me the promos because i didnt qualify. Obviously it was me that was supposed the know the details of the promos that THEY brought up in the 1st place, that THEY said I qualified for (I had even asked to make sure), and that THEY assigned to my account. At one point a rep even implied it was my fault saying that if someone says they will sell me a unicorn, then it's my fault because I should know unicorns don't exist. Ultimately I still don't have the agreed upon price, I've wasted a ton of time, and I can't even go back to my old setup because one of the promos they "incorrectly" assigned to me was a trade-in promo, so our old phones are gone. Not only was customer service horrible, but now they are making it seem like they did me a favor for reducing the bill at all.

Verizon Class Action Claims iPhone Promo Scam

Verizon wireless signAn Arkansas couple claim they fell victim to Verizon’s “bait and switch” scheme in a two for one iPhone deal.

According to plaintiffs George Wise and Barbara Gilbert-Wise, this deal was “purposefully deceptive, false, unconscionable, fraudulent, and also allowed Verizon to be unjustly enriched.”

The plaintiffs claim that, in May 2019, Mr. Wise went into their local Verizon store seeking to take advantage of Mother’s Day promotions.

Specifically, he aimed to take advantage of the deal which reportedly allowed consumers to “Buy iPhone XR, iPhone XS MAX, iPhone XS, or iPhone X and get a free iPhone XR (or take $750 off a second iPhone X model)” when “adding a new line on Verizon Unlimited.”

While at the store, a Verizon employee allegedly told Mr. Wise that he would be able to participate in the promotion. Mr. Wise says he was told he would receive a second iPhone free of charge if he added an additional line to his account and purchased another iPhone, promises which were “all consistent with Verizon’s Mother’s Day Promotion.”

Based on these representations, Mr. Wise reportedly chose to participate in the bargain by adding a phone to his account and purchasing a new iPhone as a gift for his wife Mrs. Gilbert-Wise. He expected he would receive an additional iPhone free of charge, which could be used by his son on his recently added phone line.

However, Mr. Wise says he was deceived into authorizing installment payments for the supposedly “free” iPhone. He was reportedly charged for the phone in June 2018 on their first bill following the transaction.

“Mr. Wise purchased the new iPhone for his wife and added a new line to his Verizon account based upon the false, misleading, deceptive, and unconscionable advertising, and further, has had to pay for the additional iPhone that was falsely promoted as ‘free,’” the Verizon class action lawsuit claims.

“As a result of the false, misleading, deceptive, and unconscionable advertising identified in this pleading above, Plaintiffs and the Class have commonly suffered actual financial losses from the addition of the cellular phone lines and resulting charges, and the payments and continuing payments for the two new iPhones — one of which was falsely promised to be free.”

According to the Verizon class action, Mr. Wise attempted multiple times to resolve the issue. However, Verizon has allegedly refused to issue a credit for the “free” iPhone, “thus, its false, misleading, unconscionable, unjust, and fraudulent charges for the ‘free’ iPhone and additional line remain.”

The plaintiffs seek to represent a Class of Arkansas consumers who purchased an iPhone XR, iPhone XS MAX, iPhone XS, or iPhone X from Verizon and added an additional line to their Verizon account between May 1, 2019 and May 31, 2019 based on promises that they would receive a free iPhone XR added to the new line.

When it comes to incentivizing vaccines you can now add Verizon to the list of companies offering out perks. On Monday the nation's largest carrier joined companies like Krispy Kreme and Anheuser-Busch by announcing a new promotion that will give 10% off accessories to vaccinated customers.

The deal, which starts on June 15, needs you to head to Verizon's website and fill out a "brief questionnaire" where you will enter your phone number and fill out a survey asking if you've received a COVID-19 vaccine. The survey is on the honor system as the carrier doesn't need to you provide a vaccination card as proof.

After you submit the questionnaire you will get a promo code texted to you "within 24 hours" that you can use either in a Verizon store or on the carrier's website. The questionnaire will be available until July 31; recipients have until Aug. 15 to use the promo code.

Unlike other Verizon promotions like the Disney bundle for unlimited plans, the discount is per line and not per account. If you have a family line with four accounts, each line would be eligible for the 10% accessory offer so long as all members have been vaccinated.

The promotion will also be stackable on top of existing Verizon promotions, such as the one the carrier is offering now for Father's Day and graduations. This means you can add the 10% off to a sale price, taking a product like Apple's AirPods Pro down to $180 (normally $250, on sale for $200) or Sony's WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones down to $270 (normally $350, on sale for $300).

Other devices that aren't normally on sale, like Apple's $549 AirPods Max, would also be eligible.

That said, not every accessory that Verizon sells will be eligible for the 10% off. Per the company's fine print, any accessory that has "a retail price ending in $0.97" doesn't qualify. This means accessories like Apple's iPhone cases, MagSafe adapters or iPad keyboards would not be eligible for the discount.

VERIZON WIRELESS - VERIZON BRINGS BACK A BIG PROMOTION!!!

I signed up for the bring your own device and get $450 promo in September. This was an online ONLY promotion, I did everything I was told to do by the online rep through chat.  I was told I would recieve the $900 in gift cards in the mail at the ens of our conversation. I waited and my first bill came around and so I hadn't recieved anything.  When I called customer service, I was told thqt I had to submit a rebate with some special codes to get the promotion, but that is was to late to do it at that point because it was past 30 days. I was never informed of this over the chat with the online rep. I have spent countless hours online chatting and not getting anywhere with this. Everytime I would get a message back it was a new rep who I had to explain the situation over to again, and they would suggest the same things and ask the same questions, to no avail. I called in again a little over 2 weeks ago and a man said someone else would call me back about the promotion on 3 to 5 business days. Noone has called me to resolve this issue, and my second third billing cycle starts in 6 days. So I assume if I havent paid it by then.... they will cut my service. I called at least 10 times this weekend .... only to be on hold for 20 to 30 minutes each time and never get a person. I have been dealing with this for 2 months and am exhausted with trying to through to anyone who can help me. I never recieved promotion I was promised whey I signed up. My only option is to not pay the bill and switch to ATT, because noone will contact me and honor Verizon's end of the deal. This company has horrible customer service and it is impossible to do business with them.
