Large candle tumbler H. 15 cm D. 15 cm

Aux Oiseaux large tumbler and candle – scented with Rue des Archives wax, a fragrance created by Olivia Giacobetti exclusively for Bernardaud.

When the candle is totally consumed, the large tumbler may be used to as a vase or pot holder.

Burning time: up to 100 hours

Here are tips for safely prolonging the life of your Bernardaud candle:

- The first time you burn your candle, allow it to burn for at least one hour until the whole top is liquid with wax, then 2 or 3 hours on future uses.

- Trim the wick regularly - by shortening the wick you allow it to burn more slowly and avoid unsightly black smoke marks around the edge of the porcelain. After blowing out your candle, re-center and straighten the wick.

- Choose an area free from drafts and do not move your candle while it is lit to avoid uneven burning.

- Never leave a lit candle unattended to avoid any fire risk. Always place your candle on a level, heat resistant, non-flammable surface away from fabric or drapes and out of children's reach.

TUMBLER TUTORIAL: NMO'S SIGNATURE ROSE GOLD CUP

The Best Cup Turner Kits for Creating Custom Tumblers

Love crafting with epoxy resin? Consider picking up a tumbler turner—a relatively small and convenient machine that enables you to decorate cups by pouring, drizzling, or painting tinted resin on them. These machines suspend a cup horizontally while spinning it slowly so you can apply coats with ease. You can buy just a turner, but a more economical option is to purchase a kit that also comes with materials for mixing and applying resin. Below, find our top picks and be on your way with a fun and creative craft.

1. Spinifly Cup Turner Set

From its spongy cup holders in millennial pink to its base emblazoned with the slogan KEEP CALM AND MAKE ART TUMBLER, Spinifly’s turner is Instagram-ready. And it works really well, too, if you’re in the market for a simple but solidly constructed machine. It moves smoothly at 5-6 rpm—fast enough for you to decorate fairly quickly while maintaining even and neat coats—and it comes with sponge sizes to accommodate cups with capacities of 10 to 40 ounces. Being made of metal, it’s also very sturdy and easy to clean. In addition to the flashy turner, you get two detachable turning arms so you can dry one tumbler while spinning another; measuring cups, a silicone brush, stirring sticks, and gloves.

2. Suteck Cup Turner Kit

This kit is a great second option, especially if you prefer to work more slowly. The turner moves at just 3-4 rpm, which is a good speed for applying a lot of glitter with precision and minimal mess. It can also rotate in either direction so you can quickly return to a spot for touch-ups, and you can charge it with either a power cord or USB plug. It’s made of metal and is easy to assemble, but it sits lower to the table than our top pick, which means it accommodates smaller cups. Included are good-quality foam pieces that fit cups of 10 to 30 ounces as well as 50 stirring sticks, two wand handles, two epoxy brushes, gloves, and a silicone pad to protect your work surface.

3. Xu Cup Turner Set

If you want to dip your toes into cup turning without breaking the bank, we recommend this comprehensive set for beginners. For under $40, you get almost everything you need to get started: a simple turner with two-way rotation, mixing accessories, 12 jars of colorful glitter, and even a heat gun to help eliminate bubbles from your resin work. All you have to pick up is your own epoxy resin. The turner is made of wood, but it’s effective and reliable, turning quietly and consistently at 2.5 to 3 rpm.

4. We R Memory Keepers Spin It Epoxy Kit

If you already own a turner, this kit comes with everything you need to make your own bulk batch of epoxy for decorating tumblers. Simply mix equal parts of bottle A with bottle B, using the included cups and sticks. The unique formula is intended to help speed up your production time, as the mixture soft-cures in just four hours. The faster drying time means you have a shorter working time, but with practice you can achieve a super-smooth finish with no bubbles or dimples.

5. Caramote Creative Cuptisserie

If you’re ready to upgrade to a turner with multiple wands, pick this kit. It can spin four cups at once, with two switches to control a pair at a time. It turns relatively slowly, at just 3-4 rpm, and it doesn’t turn in two directions, but the motor runs steadily, so you can achieve clean and even decorations every time. In addition to the turner itself, the kit contains four foam pieces that can hold cups up to 32 ounces, mixing accessories, and a drying rack.

DIY: Decorate Your Tumbler!

Maybe you’ve seen them, maybe you haven’t. I’ve seen them a few times and they’ve totally caught my eye, especially now that the weather has made things grey and the mood around campus is a little dull. What could I possibly be talking about? THIS.
glittersbuxtumblers-420x300
Can you believe it’s already November? It’s that time of year when the leaves turn mushy, the weather gets a little gloomy, days get darker and – well, you get the idea. So I decided, I was going to glitterify (if you can call that a word) my tumbler to make those dull days…not so dull! But I came across a problem: I couldn’t pick ONE colour for my tumbler. So I decided to use two. And what better way to put two colours together than by doing a gradient?
Long story short, I am going to show you how to turn this:
sbuxtumbelr-300x300
into this:
IMG_7177-154x300
It’s simple, really. All you need is a tumbler with two cups, spray adhesive, painter’s tape, newspaper and two kinds of glitter!
IMG_5658-258x300
First things first: unscrew the two cups from each other. The outer cup (left in the below picture) provides insulation to the smaller one (which keeps the drink hot/cold). The outer cup is the one we will be working with.
IMG_5657-400x300
Set aside the inner cup. Using painter’s tape, cover the inside rim of the outer cup; this is so you don’t get glitter into the area where the two cups will be put back together! Cover your workspace with tons of newspaper! Glitter has a tendency to get just about anywhere and everywhere (I share this with you from experience).
IMG_5661-400x300
Also, make sure that wherever you set up, it is well ventilated and you have fresh air throughout the room. Spray adhesive has a strong smell, and it’s really unhealthy to breathe in the fumes. You can get this at any crafts store (I went to Michael’s). For this project, I used Aleene’s Spray-On Glitter Sealer.
IMG_5659-225x300
The secret of using a spray-on adhesive is that it loses its adhesive very quickly after you spray it (read: a few seconds). So, using one hand to hold the outer cup and another to use the spray adhesive, spray the bottom of the INSIDE of the outer cup. Take a two pinches of glitter (I used green glitter) and apply to the inside of the cup by tilting it to the side. Rotate the cup with one hand and pat the outside of the cup with your other hand to even out the glitter.
IMG_7180-400x300
And repeat with the top! Make sure that you pat the outside of the cup to distribute the second layer of glitter evenly over the first layer of glitter!
IMG_7182-400x300
Seal your new glittery tumbler with another coat of spray adhesive. Let it stand for 12 hours before your screw the two cups back together.
IMG_7176-225x300
And voilà! Your tumbler gets an instant update and November doesn’t seem as dull anymore.

Note: I don’t recommend washing the outer cup now that the glitter is on the inside. Give the front a wipedown, but don’t throw it in the dishwasher!
