Two transported to hospitals after crash on Highway 304

BREMERTON — A 65-year-old woman driving in rainy conditions on Highway 304 on Thursday morning lost control of her vehicle and collided with another in the oncoming lane of traffic, sending two to the hospital.

The 65-year-old, from Belfair, was driving westbound on Highway 304 in a Chevrolet Trailblazer just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday when she hydroplaned and went into oncoming traffic on Highway 304/Charleston Beach Road near Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Trailblazer driven by the Belfair woman hit a 2014 Ford Explorer. The 65-year-old was transported by crews to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma. The driver of Explorer was not injured, but the passenger, a 71-year-old Poulsbo woman, was taken to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale.

The Washington State Patrol said the crash was caused by speeding too fast for the conditions.

Crash on Highway 303 near Fred Meyer in Bremerton sends three to hospital

A driver headed south on Highway 303 near Fred Meyer in East Bremerton rammed into a car waiting at a traffic light, causing a three-car collision Wednesday afternoon that sent two individuals to the hospital. 

A Ford Econoline van driven by a 31-year-old Port Orchard man was driving south around 12:30 p.m. and did not stop as he approached an intersection where other vehicles were stopped at a traffic light, according to a report from Washington State Patrol. The van struck a Chevrolet Traverse truck driven by a Port Orchard man, which caused the truck to run into a Ford Ranger with three Utah residents inside. 

The driver of the van and the driver of the Traverse were both taken to St. Michael Medical Center for injuries, according to WSP. The driver of the Ranger did report minor injuries but declined to go to the hospital. All individuals involved in the incident were wearing seatbelts. 

The driver who failed to stop for the traffic light is facing a possible charge of negligent driving, according to WSP.
