McCulloch 160 Chainsaw Carburetor Specifications
By Daniel Thompson
The McCulloch 160s is a discontinued model of chainsaw sold between 1983 and 1995. The 32.8cc engine on this saw comes equipped with either a Walbro or Zama brand carburetor. These carburetors perform the same function, but there are some minor mechanical differences between these models. Both carburetors are diaphragm-type carburetors that use a flexible barrier that prevents fuel from leaking when you turn the chainsaw on its side.
Walbro Carb Specifications
The original carburetor installed on the McCulloch 160 is the Walbro MDC-16 carburetor. This carburetor consists of 32 parts, but only 25 of these are available from the major and minor repair kits. The minor kit contains replacement parts for parts of the carburetor that commonly need replacement such as the screens over the vent, the diaphragm in the fuel pump, gaskets and the needles that control the flow of fuel through the carburetor. The performance of the MDC-16 is adjustable using two screws attached to needles that adjust the flow of fuel and air through the carburetor at idle speed and high speed.
Zama Carb Specifications
The Zama M1-M7 carburetor is the replacement model for the Walbro carburetor. It consists of 28 parts but performs the same functions as the Walbro model. The M1-M7 carburetor has 16 replaceable parts that are available in three kits designated the repair, gasket and needle kits. Unlike the repair kits for the Walbro carburetor, these kits have few common parts.
Identifying the Carb
The replacement parts for the Zama and Walbro models are not interchangeable. You can identify whether your McCulloch 160 has a Zama or Walbro by the model number on the body of the carburetor. On Zama carburetors the model number is generally found next to the metal barbs that attach to the fuel lines.
Adjusting the Carburetor
Turning the high speed screw clockwise increases the flow of air through the carburetor at a given throttle setting, resulting in a leaner mixture. Turning the high speed screw in the other direction increases the amount of fuel and oil, resulting in a richer mixture. Adjusting the idle screw clockwise increases the speed of the engine while it is idling and turning it the opposite direction decreases it. Slowly turn each screw clockwise and counter-clockwise with the engine running and note the difference in engine performance as the fuel mixture becomes leaner or richer. As the mixture becomes too rich or too lean the engine will begin to lose power. The ideal setting for both screws is midway between the two points where turning the screw begins to cause the engine to slow down. Adjusting the idle screw first simplifies the adjustment process.
Safe Adjustment Methods
Adjusting the high speed screw to run lean decreases the amount of lubricating oil delivered to the piston. Operating your saw at high speed with a lean mixture for more than a few seconds can cause serious damage to your saw's engine. Always keep the saw on level ground with the blade away from yourself, obstructions and bystanders when you are adjusting the saw with the engine running.

twitter announced today that it will be removing its implementation of stories dubbed “fleets.” the feature was either loved or hated by twitter users since its initial release last year.
this short-lived feature, which was released in november of last year, will be removed on august 3. twitter acknowledged the controversial nature of the snapchat/instagram clone with the farewell tweet. notably, there was no fleet from the main twitter account announcing the departure of the feature, only a standard tweet.
in the goodbye, the company said it is working on “new stuff.” one can hope that they add the ability to edit tweets, in addition to the new edit audience and monetization features.
in a more detailed blog post, twitter shared that it hoped fleets would make people more comfortable posting onto twitter. as fleets disappear, some of the fleet creation features, like gifs and stickers, will be implemented into the standard tweets composer.

A few years ago we had purchased all the remaining obsolete parts for the McCulloch Chain Saws, Generators, Trimmers and other McCulloch power equipment.
These were purchased from the original U.S. McCulloch Distributor. We have hundreds of various Carburetor numbers and all of the individual parts for this power equipment.
Most of these carburetors came to us in bulk packaging without individual boxes. All Carburetors are NEW and have never been mounted.
