One day, your baby will be old enough to tell you what they want to be for Halloween. Probably starting in March, and you'll get weekly updates thereafter. And while you'll be treated to a rotating selection of their favorite characters, sometimes you'll wish you could go back to the infant days when you had total control. These cute baby costumes are so adorable, creative and — most importantly — easy to mange, you'll wish you had more than one or two Halloweens with them in the baby stage.
So, what will it be? Will you go with a heart-meltingly cute infant costume, or something incongruously adult? Or maybe you want to try and go for a big laugh. Or, are you going to go with one of a costume featuring one of your favorite movie or TV characters, like Star Wars, Loki or Stranger Things? However you want to dress your baby for Halloween, we’ve got a costume that’s up your alley.
If your child doesn’t fit into baby costumes anymore — they grow up so fast, don’t they? — we’ve still got you covered with toddler Halloween costumes and kids' Halloween costumes. Now, go out there and bring home all of the candy.
Trendy Halloween costumes for 2021
‘Tis the spooky season, everyone. It’s that time of the year again to start thinking about the solo costumes or group costumes you’re going to step out in. TikTok is the new Pinterest for many things, including Halloween costume ideas. Once you find the right side of spooky tok, you’ll find all the inspiration for both elaborate and last minute costumes.
This is your guide to the trendiest costumes you can pull off by yourself, with your best friend, your significant other or your group of friends.
LeBron James in “Space Jam: A New Legacy”
It’s time to put the basic basketball player costume to rest. This fun spin on that original costume is easy to put together, but is unique and relevant. We all know about the new “Space Jam: A New Legacy” movie and how LeBron came in looking hot and fresh. And so can you!
All that you need is your favorite teal or multicolor jersey or a “Space Jam” t-shirt. Amazon even sells the jersey LeBron wears for a fair price. Athletic shorts or pants pair well, throw on a pair of sneakers, and you’re done. If you’re feeling crazy, you can get a bright cobalt blue arm band and carry around a basketball as a finishing touch. It’s a quick and easy costume that everyone will love. Just make sure to take some action shots slam-dunking.
Olivia Rodrigo on the “Sour”Album cover
Olivia Rodrigo has been on the rise on the music charts and in fashion. Some love her, others not so much, but her look on her “Sour” album is fun, flirty and attainable. Etsy has the exact stickers that are scattered on her face and tongue, but you can put them anywhere — your chest, hands, arms or legs.
Shein is going to be your best friend with this costume. The affordable site has a cute, pink fluffy tank and sweater set that will keep you warm throughout your chilly Halloween night. Either blue plaid pants or a skirt will work, it’s up to you. Finish off this trendy costume with white shoes, your favorite silver jewelry and some tousled curls. You’ll be singing “good 4 u” looking like the icon herself!
Megan Fox from “Jennifer’s Body”
This costume is definitely going to be hot in the trends this Halloween. The iconic Megan Fox in “Jennifer’s Body” displays a high school hottie that becomes possessed by a demon. Her character has multiple outfits that remind us all of the 2000s. Each look can be found in your own closet or on websites like Amazon, Shein and Nasty Gal. If you want to go the safer route, choose one of her more identifiable looks, like the pink hearts zip-up or purple cheerleader set. You could definitely pull a jean skirt, tank and white puffer jacket out of your closet or a friend’s. If the gore of Halloween excites you, maybe go the route of wearing a long white dress and douse yourself with some fake blood. All in all, you can choose which Jennifer you want to be for a night.
Serena and Blair from “Gossip Girl”
Oh, Serena and Blair. The most iconic duo. Although this costume has been seen in previous years, it’s a classic. “Gossip Girl” is one of those shows that has never really died down from the hype it got in the early 2000s. If you and your bestie can’t decide on a costume, you can never go wrong with the timeless looks of Serena and Blair. For Serena, grab an oversized white button-up and tie out of your boyfriend’s, dad’s or even your own closet. Next, find a pair of black stockings (even cuter if they have bows) and your favorite black booties or knee high boots. Tousle up your hair and throw on some light makeup, and you have the classic, effortless Serena van/ der Woodsen look.
For Blair, a cropped white button-up and plaid skirt is ideal. For the bottom half, white ruffle socks and whatever black shoes you have on hand to add to the schoolgirl appeal. To finish off her flirty but sophisticated look, pop on a folded bow tie and, of course, a headband. You’ll be dominating your Halloween night with your bestie in no time!
Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie
Tana Mongeau and Ashly Schwan killed this costume last year. The hilarious duo of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, stars of “The Simple Life,”have many iconic looks, but this one takes the cake by far. Paris’s outfit might be a little harder to find, but any jean set will work. If you can’t find this, then a dark blue top and jean skirt is great, too.
For her neck piece, a DIY might be calling your name. You can find a thick black choker on Amazon or at just about any clothing website, and the big pink rose at your nearest craft store. Super Glue that baby onto your choker, and there you go! If you’re feeling extra, carry around a stuffed dog animal or carry it in your purse.
As for Nicole, raid your mom’s closet for her old overalls or head to your favorite thrift store and pick up a cheap pair. Throw on a pink bra or bathing suit top, a pearl necklace and channel your inner Nicole. Just make sure you and your bestie’s response to everything for the night is, “loves it” or “that’s hot.”
Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox
This new star couple of 2021 has been breaking the Internet ever since their first Instagram post together. They’re the couple that is always spicing things up and keeping everyone on their toes, in both their relationship and in fashion. While some of their looks are unconventional and difficult to recreate, their first public picture together can most likely be found in your closet. For Megan, pop on a black top or bralette and your best black pants. Black booties would look best for this fit.
Sweep on a soft smokey eye and a darker lip, loosely curl your hair and you have Megan’s classic look. As for MGK, a black t-shirt and black pants from your closet, and a fake arm tattoo sleeve (if needed) can be found at a costume store or on Amazon. Finish off MGK’s look with some simple jewelry and black nail polish. Find the nearest mirror to recreate this legendary flick with your partner, and maybe you’ll break the Internet, too!
Jordan Belfort and Naomi Belfort from “Wolf of Wall Street”
If you’re an avid user of TikTok, you might have seen a few posts about this costume idea. The dysfunctional, but stylish couple is going to be trending on Halloween night. If you’ve chosen to be Naomi, any bright teal blue dress works.
This one from Shein is very similar and for a good price. Step into some heels and accessorize with sunglasses and gold jewelry, and there you go. As for Jordan, put on a pair of khakis and a white button-up, but make sure it’s buttoned down. Finish off with some sunglasses and gold jewelry. If you want to channel your inner Jordan and Naomi Belfort, start practicing your New York accents now!
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
This sexy couple’s costume will have you and your partner turning heads. You should be able to find this look in your own closet, a friend’s or sibling’s — so you won’t have to spend big bucks to look this great. If you are going to be Mrs. Smith, your go-to LBD (little black dress) is perfect because it matches the inspo and you know you can rock it.
For shoes, wear black heels if you can wear them throughout the night or a pair of black boots or sneakers. If you feel comfortable, attach a Nerf gun or any play toy gun to your thigh with a black headband or something similar you have on hand. You can use this accessory for pictures, but you may want to leave this part of the costume at home. If your half is Mr. Smith, a black suit and white button-up is perfect, and don’t forget a belt. Any dress shoes or shoes that you’re comfortable in work great, too. As a finishing touch, you can even slick back your hair. This power couple costume will leave jaws dropped and eyes widened as you enjoy your Halloween night.
The Pogues from “Outer Banks”
This show is an all-time favorite, so why not dress like the characters as we all await season three to come out? If Halloween is warm where you live, you’re in luck. Pull out your summer wardrobe and throw on your favorite simple and comfortable pieces. Jean shorts, tank tops, button-downs and other staple summer clothes fit the Pogue look.
Putting in minimal effort is key for this costume. If your area is a little colder around Halloween, still try to go for the comfy but cute look. Yoga pants, leggings, flowy pants and long sleeve patterned shirts work great. Almost think of this costume as a young hippie look, but with an edge. If you’re feeling crazy, put spots of a darker bronzer or eyeshadow around your face and body to look like dirt. Once a Pogue, always a Pogue!
A little more effort is required for this costume, but it’s unique and looks amazing once put together. Don’t worry about looking exactly like the girls in this picture or any of the inspo pictures you have. You can find each of these costumes for cheap or in your closet. You can put your own spin on it, too.
For Princess Jasmine, Amazon has this costume for a semi-reasonable price. If you’re ballin’ on a budget, this bathing suit from Shein would go perfectly underneath a pair of flowy pants, either white or teal. Drape your body in gold jewelry, like this body chain from Amazon. For your hair, try out the bubble braids. If you can’t figure out how to do it, here’s a tutorial from TikTok. Lastly, step into some nude heels or flats, and you’re good to go.
If you’re Cinderella, this blue skirt and top set from Shein is affordable and adorable. Shein also carries lace white gloves that give the perfect touch, without doing much. Lastly, put on some nude heels and slick your hair back into a top knot.
For Princess Ariel, all you really need is a green skirt and purple top, like this scallop trim bikini top from Shein. If you really want to go for it, get a red wig and style it into some loose waves. Again, nude or clear heels work great or any shoe you’re comfortable in. As for jewelry, whatever silver jewelry you like will pair wonderfully with this look. Now, you’re the beloved Little Mermaid!
For Snow White, this off-the-shoulder dress from Shein fits the modernized Disney theme of this costume. If you’re not a huge fan of that dress, Shein also carries a floral embroidered night dress that would look beautiful and still stick to Snow White’s look. To finish this look off, place a tiara on your softly curled hair, and there you have it.
Last but not least, Princess Aurora’s costume calls for just about any short pink dress, like this one from PrettyLittleThing. To make sure everyone knows you’re a princess, finish off the costume with a gold tiara. Flashy gold jewelry to accessorize and to also match your tiara is the perfect touch to be Sleeping Beauty. For shoes, wear nude or clear heels or any shoe you are comfortable in.
You and your besties will be walking into your Halloween night as royalty--hot royalty. This modern twist on Disney princesses is fun and flirty, and one of the easiest group costume ideas. The pieces for these costumes have a lot of leeway, so don’t feel pressured to create an exact look. The beauty of Halloween is that you can be whoever you want for a day, but also make it your own creation.
The Winx Club
“The Winx Club” is a cartoon that aired in 2004. Even if you haven’t heard of it, this costume is a fun twist on fairies and is easy to put together. The TikTok featured above shows all of the six fairies and their color, as well as the items you can purchase from Amazon or find in your closet. “The Winx Club”fairies have definitely been forgotten in the past decade, so it’s time to bring them back. If your group is too small, choose your favorites of the fairies and if your group is too big, it’s totally okay to do repeats. Have fun with this costume, you can even create your own fairies with different colors!
You might think it’s a little early to think about Halloween, but it is only a month away. These ideas are a great mix of costumes that you can find in your own closet or that you may need to look online for. So, start coordinating, start shopping, and start getting in the Halloween spirit!

If you’re feeling like going the nautical route this Halloween, why not be a Sailor? This relatively simple costume requires white pants, a white collared shirt OR a navy and white striped shirt, and a sailor hat you can find at your local costume store. Tattoos were a big staple in a Sailor’s look back in the day, especially in the old-school American style, so to top this costume off grab a hold of one of our many anchor tattoos! We’d personally recommend either Puerto Pilon or Leif.
Scotty P from We're the Millers
You’ve definitely seen this guy grace your screen, either from memes or the actual movie. Honestly, he could be an inkbox ambassador because at the end of the day “No Ragrets” with our tattoos ;). To pull off Scotty P from We Are The Millers you’ll need a white tank top, a black bandana, a gold chain and a sick Freehand spelling out “NO RAGRETS”, spelling error intended. Let us be thankful you won’t actually end up regretting this one.
Sadly, we all have to wait another year until we get to see El back in action kicking Demogorgon butt. One way of remedying the absence of the series this year is dressing up as Eleven for Halloween. Get yourself a pink dress, navy jacket, white sneakers, knee-high socks, a box of Eggos and our El tattoo! An ideal place to apply the tattoo is on your inner left arm to best replicate her look. Also, not to brag but they did use inkbox on set so you’ll legit be like Eleven!
Jesse and Chester from Dude Where's My Car?
What does mine say? Dude. What does mine say? Sweet. Fun for those looking for a low-effort costume and has a friend with the same mindset! All you need for these chill costumes are some track pants, our Freehand Ink and your good ‘ole open back! Since this is a two-person costume, you can take turns applying each character’s respective “Dude” and “Sweet” tattoos. Luckily for you, these won’t last forever.
Death Eaters are probably one of the creepiest characters from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Everything about them, from their masks to their cloaks gives us the chills. The most important component to a Death Eater’s look is the Dark Mark, and luckily for you, we have our Morsmordre tattoo! After getting a hold of a black robe, dark pants, and a wand, all that’s left to do is apply the tattoo on your inner left arm. Tada, you have officially joined the inner circle of Voldermort's Death Eaters.
Underneath it all we’re all just a bag of bones, so why not sport your truest self and be a Skeleton this year? You can master this look by either creating your own skeleton outfit or purchasing one similar to like this one we found on Amazon. All that’s left to do is applying Freehand Ink on your hands to replicate skeletal hands! For some inspo, check out this sick Freehand one of our customers created down below!
We’re still not over Suicide Squad and how amazing Margot Robbie was at playing the electrifying role of Harley Quinn. Now that the buzz around the movie has simmered down a bit, this is your chance to be Harley Quinn with a lower chance of running into a duplicate. To pull off this look you’ll need the iconic tee she’s wearing, which we found for an affordable price on Amazon, short shorts, fishnets, thigh tattoos, and some hair dye! For the thigh tattoos you can easily grab a bottle of Freehand Ink to recreate her tattoos, and since they’ll be slightly covered by the fishnets don’t worry about them being absolutely perfect. If you want to go the extra mile for this costume, get a hold of a baseball bat!
Another easy-to-put-together costume is the classic biker! All you’ll need for this is a leather jacket, colored bandana of your choice, leather gloves, and some chunky leather jewelry. To complete the look, we’d recommend one (or all) of the following tattoos: Adonis, Cerna Ruze, and Cadena.
A friendly reminder for all you festive Halloween peeps who are going to use inkbox to spice up your costumes this year, our ink takes 24-36 hours to fully develop so plan to apply ahead! Also if you need a more specific design to top off your costume, feel free to check out our custom platform. Hope we’ve helped ease the dread of coming up with a costume, happy dressing up and stay safe this Halloween season!

For another Harry Potter costume, consider going as a member of Slytherin. If you’re studying parseltongue in your spare time and want to honor Hogwarts’ snake-mascot house or channel your inner Draco Malfoy, throw on some green and silver and ink yourself with our Mamba tattoo to complete your Slytherin look.

Right: Baco, 2.5 x 4.0 inches, $23

10) Day of the Dead
Halloween is also the first day of the three-day celebration the Day of the Dead in Mexico.
