Hunter bis enchants

Hunter bis enchants DEFAULT

1.

Foreword

One of the biggest differences between Classic and other iterations of WoW is the widespread usage of consumables. There are no limits to how many consumables you can use, and consumables can be incredibly powerful. Consumables can be extremely useful in all aspects of the game, and can be the difference in PvP, as well as raiding. Below is a list of all the possible consumables that you would be able to get and make use of as a Hunter.

One thing we cannot stress enough is that you do not *need* all of the possible consumables to play the game. While some of them are very powerful and highly recommended, you can use as many or as few as you want. All of the raids are possible without using every available consumable, although some guilds will choose to make use of lots of consumables to make the content easier. Similarly, you can PvP without consumables, but you may be at a disadvantage over other players who choose to make use of them.

World Buffs for Hunter

World buffs are buffs that you will not be able to get on your own. Generally, these are buffs you will go and get with your guild if you want to stack all possible buffs for a raid. Generally, these require some sort of raid related activity to obtain.

  • Warchief's Blessing IconWarchief's Blessing (Horde-only) increases your max health by 300, your melee Haste by 15%, and your Mana per 5 seconds by 10. Everyone in Orgrimmar will receive this buff once someone turns in the Head of Rend Blackhand IconHead of Rend Blackhand, which drops off of Warchief Rend Blackhand in Upper Blackrock Spire.
  • Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer IconRallying Cry of the Dragonslayer increases your chance to critical hit with spells by 10%, with melee or ranged attacks by 5%, and your attack power by 140. Everyone in Stormwind or Orgrimmar will receive this buff once someone turns in the Head of Onyxia IconHead of Onyxia, which drops off of Onyxia in Onyxia's Lair. This buff can also be obtained by doing the exact same thing with the Head of Nefarian IconHead of Nefarian/Head of Nefarian IconHead of Nefarian from Nefarian in Blackwing Lair. They are the exact same buff and they do not stack.
  • Songflower Serenade IconSongflower Serenade increases your Critical Strike Chance by 5% and adds 15 to all of your stats. You receive this buff by cleansing a Corrupted Songflower and then looting a Cleansed Songflower in Felwood.
  • Resist Fire IconResist Fire increases your Fire Resistance by 83. While in Upper Blackrock Spire, have a Priest use their Mind Control IconMind Control ability on a Scarshield Spellbinder to have them cast this on all raid members.
  • Spirit of Zandalar IconSpirit of Zandalar increases all of your primary stats by 15% and your movement speed by 10% for 2 hours. This buff works the same way as the Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer IconRallying Cry of the Dragonslayer, but is gained from being in Booty Bay when someone turns in the Heart of Hakkar IconHeart of Hakkar from Hakkar in Zul'Gurub.
  • Fengus' Ferocity IconFengus' Ferocity, Mol'dar's Moxie IconMol'dar's Moxie, and Slip'kik's Savvy IconSlip'kik's Savvy are all 2-hour buffs that can be obtained from Dire Maul North by talking to the various ogre bosses after successfully completing a tribute run. You do not actually need to complete the run yourself, you just need to run into an instance where a run was completed and talk to Guard Fengus, Guard Mol'dar, and Guard Slip'kik. The buffs will give you 200 melee AP, 15% Stamina, and 3% spell crit chance, respectively.
  • Whenever the Darkmoon Faire is active, you can get a 10% damage buff, a 10% stat buff to a specific stat, or +25 to all resistances by answering some questions from the fortune teller Sayge in the faire. You can effectively choose which buff you want by answering his questions in the specific way.

Best Raid Consumables for Hunters

While this guide lists all of the potentially useful consumables that you could ever make use of, you most likely will not need more of them. This is the shorter list for what are considered the most important consumables to have while raiding.

The Elixir and Juju buffs all increase your damage, while the other potions and runes give you health or Mana. While it is important to have health potions, bandages, and a Healthstone available just in case, you probably will not end up using them. You will certainly make use of your Mana consumables however, as you will have a low Mana pool (especially early on), and more Mana means more spells during a fight, which can be a large damage increase, depending on how long the encounter might be.

  • Greater Fire Protection Potion IconGreater Fire Protection Potion puts a buff on you that absorbs some Fire damage. It is crafted through Alchemy.
  • Juju Ember IconJuju Ember increases your Fire resistance by 15. It is a quest reward given by Witch Doctor Mau'ari in Everlook, Winterspring.

It is also important to realize that the first raid is Molten Core, where the most common type of damage you will take is Fire damage. Some of the harder bosses, such as Ragnaros, can deal lots of Fire damage, and you might want to consider having these defensive Fire Resistance consumables, just in case you need them.

5.

All On-Use Consumables for Hunters

5.1.

Health and Mana

Potions all share a cooldown. You cannot use multiple potions at the same time, and when you use a potion, it will start its cooldown for all potions. That being said, its still useful to have multiple potions in your bags for different situations. Being in combat does not affect your potion cooldown or availability.

5.2.

Damage

Engineering bombs share cooldowns as well, so you do not need many different ones.

5.3.

6.

All Buff Consumables for Hunters

6.1.

Flasks

Flasks have a restriction, which is that you can only have one flask active at any given time.

  • Flask of Distilled Wisdom IconFlask of Distilled Wisdom increases your maximum Mana by 2000. It is crafted through Alchemy.
  • Flask of the Titans IconFlask of the Titans increases your maximum health by 1200. It is crafted through Alchemy.

6.2.

Offensive

6.3.

Defensive

  • Elixir of Fortitude IconElixir of Fortitude increases your max health by 120. It is crafted through Alchemy.
  • Major Troll's Blood Potion IconMajor Troll's Blood Potion regenerates 20 health every 5 seconds. It is crafted through Alchemy.
  • Lung Juice Cocktail IconLung Juice Cocktail increases your Stamina by 25. It is a quest reward from the Bloodmages in Blasted Lands.

6.4.

Food and Drink

Similar to flasks, you can only have one food and one drink active at any time.

6.5.

Specific Resistances

The same potion rules apply to the protection potions; once you use one, it will start a cooldown on all of your potions based on the cooldown of the potion you used.

So you’ve hit 70 (or are getting precariously close to it), now what?

You want enchants. I see a lot of freshly-minted-70 hunters who do not have their gear enchanted, or have them enchanted incorrectly. Fear not, Pike is here to help while her WoWish avatar Tawyn goes off to get smashed at Brewfest (Seriously, part of Tawyn’s RP is that she’s an alcohol fiend. Brew-of-the-Month-Club has her name all over it.)

In this guide, I’m going to tell you the best enchants you can get per item slot, and how to get them. As a forewarning, do note that this list is PvE-oriented. So let’s start at the top:

Head:
Glyph of Ferocity:
Requires: Revered reputation with the Cenarion Expedition. 85 gold with the Revered discount (80 with Exalted).
Get It From: Fedryen Swiftspear in Zangarmarsh.
Additional Commentary: This will net you 34 Attack Power, and 16 Hit Rating. This is a great inscription that will help you a lot in your quest to get hit-capped. Work on your Cenarion Expedition rep as you move through your 60s (lots of stuff in Zangarmarsh and Blade’s Edge) and the remaining grind won’t be that bad at all.

Shoulders:
Aldor:
Inscription of Vengeance
Greater Inscription of Vengeance

Scryer:
Inscription of the Blade
Greater Inscription of the Blade

Requires: Honored for the green inscription, Exalted for the blue one, with either Scryer or Aldor. Aldor will need two Holy Dust for the lesser inscription and eight Holy Dust for the greater inscription, while Scryer will need two Arcane Runes and eight Arcane Runes, respectively.
Get It From: The person standing in the back of either Aldor or Scryer bank, depending on who loves you the most.
Additional Commentary: When you first hit 70, chances are good that you will not yet be exalted with the Shattrath faction of your choice. But it doesn’t take much to be honored and net the lesser of the two available shoulder inscriptions for you. Once you’ve got that out of the way, you do want to work on getting up to exalted, eventually, so you can nab the Greater kind. Aldor’s is more AP-oriented and Scryer’s is more crit-oriented but they are both very solid inscriptions and you will be getting a good deal regardless of which faction you pick.

Cloak:
Enchant Cloak – Greater Agility
Requires: Greater Planar Essence x1, Arcane Dust x4, Primal Air x1
Get It From: An enchanter.
Additional Commentary: Simply the best hunter cloak enchant!

Chest:
Enchant Chest – Exceptional Stats
Requires: Large Prismatic Shard x4, Arcane Dust x4, Greater Planar Essence x4
Get It From: An enchanter.
Additional Commentary: +6 to all stats doesn’t exactly sound special but it’s a well-rounded enchant, and really the best we’ve got.

Wrist:
Enchant Bracer – Assault
Requiers: Arcane Dust x6.
Get It From: An enchanter.
Additional Commentary: Straight-forward, best hunter wrist enchant, and very nicely priced to boot!

Gloves:
Enchant Gloves – Assault (the K-Mart Gloves Enchant)
Enchant Gloves – Superior Agility
Requires: Assault: Arcane Dust x8. Superior Agility: Small Prismatic Shard x3, Greater Planar Essence x3, Primal Air x2
Get It From: An enchanter.
Additional Commentary: Superior Agility is the better of these two enchants, as it will give you AP and Crit and scale with Blessing of Kings. But Assault is a heckuva lot cheaper, and is a decent alternative if you have just recently hit 70 and are short on change.

Legs:
Nethercleft Leg Armor
Nethercobra Leg Armor
Requires: Nethercleft: Heavy Knothide Leather x4, Thick Clefthoof Leather x16, Primal Earth x8, Primal Nether. Nethercobra: Heavy Knothide Leather x4, Cobra Scales x4, Primal Air x8, Primal Nether.
Get It From: A leatherworker, or the Auction House.
Additional Commentary: If you are having stamina problems that e-mail spam cannot solve, or you do a lot of PvP, the first choice will be fine for you. As you move from five-mans/heroics into raiding content and/or are very much PvE oriented, the second choice is much better DPS-wise.

Feet:
Enchant Boots – Dexterity
Requires: Greater Planar Essence x8, Arcane Dust x8
Get It From: An enchanter.
Additional Commentary: Hunter-tested, hunter-approved!

One-Handed Weapon:
Enchant Weapon – Greater Agility
Requires: Arcane Dust x8, Greater Planar Essence x4, Large Prismatic Shard x6, Primal Air x2
Get It From: An enchanter.
Additional Commentary: The best enchant for dual-wielding. ’nuff said.

Two-Handed Weapon:
Enchant 2H Weapon – Savagery
Enchant 2H Weapon – Major Agility
Requires: Savagery: Large Prismatic Shard x4, Arcane Dust x40. Major Agility: Large Prismatic Shard x8, Greater Planar Essence x6, Arcane Dust x20.
Get It From: An enchanter.
Additional Commentary: These are both solid hunter enchants. But the way I see it, Savagery is more of a “just turned 70” enchant as opposed to Agi which is more of a “raiding 70” enchant. Savagery is cheaper and will be a big boost to your AP, which in my experience, is harder to come by in the early-70 game than it becomes later on. Major Agility is my personal preferred enchant here because it also gives you some crit, and of course, scales with Kings. But if you are a pre-Kara 70 who is still working on five-mans and Heroics and you don’t wind up with pally buffs very often, Savagery is a fine replacement.

Ranged Weapon:
Khorium Scope
Biznicks 247×128 Accurascope
Stabilized Eternium Scope
Requires: Khorium Scope: Hardened Adamantite Tube, Khorium Bar, Star of Elune. Accurascope: Lava Core, Essence of Earth, Delicate Arcanite Converter, Dark Iron Bar, Thorium Tube. Stabilized Eternium Scope: Hardened Adamantite Tube x2, Felsteel Stabilizer x6, Star of Elune x2
Get It From: An engineer, or the Auction House.
Additional Commentary: You are a hunter; you should always have a scope on your weapon, period. Don’t just save it up for that one special drop that may or may not happen. Get a scope. Khorium Scope is the cheapest here and if you are short on money and want a decent upgrade, it’s your best bet. The Accurascope, while it does amazing things to your hit rating, is often in short supply because of Molten Core’s sad relegation into the closet. In all honesty, the prize of most hunters is probably Stabilized Eternium Scope. It’s expensive. It’s worth it.

Okay, that’ll do it. Let me know if I made any silly mistakes or left something out in my quest to get this done or otherwise fracked something up. Remember: don’t underestimate the power of enchants! A hunter who always wants to perform at their best will have all their gear enchanted with the best enchants they can get, and that is a hunter who people will remember. Good luck!

GarsNotes: Hunter Enchants

Attention: The following info is pretty ancient, but I’ve left it available on the site for those of you that wish to wax nostalgic or are perhaps running an old version of WoW.

Hunter Enchants

The following list contains all of the best enchants, arcanums, inscriptions and various other item enhancements for hunters. The guide includes recommended enchants for both PvE and PvP, as well as profession-specific enhancements.

For information on gemming your hunter, please see my other guide – GarsNotes: Hunter Gems.

Head Arcanums

Arcanum of Torment – This can be purchased from the Knights of the Ebon Blade at Revered reputation, at the cost of 127G 50S. This is the best DPS head enchant available for hunters.

Arcanum of Triumph(PvP) – This arcanum can be purchased from the Wintergrasp Quartermaster for the low price of 40 Stone Keeper’s Shards. This arcanum is better itemized for PvP use due to the resilience, but the 50AP makes it a worthwhile enchant for PvE if one lacks the necessary KotB reputation for the Arcanum of Torment.

Shoulder Inscriptions

Greater Inscription of the Axe – This enchant can be purchased from the Sons of Hodir at exalted reputation, at the cost of 80G. Lesser Inscription of the Axe, which has slightly fewer stats, can be obtained at honored reputation.

Inscription of Triumph(PvP) – This inscription is available from the Wintergrasp Quartermaster for 30 Stone Keeper’s Shards. Like the Arcanum of Triumph, this shoulder enchant is for PvP.

Master’s Inscription of the Axe (Inscription Only) – If you have Inscription as one of your professions, then this is the shoulder enchant to use.

Chest Enchants

Powerful Stats – This enchant adds 10 to all stats. This is the best chest enchant for hunters, period. Super Stats, which provides +8 to all stats, is the cheaper alternative for leveling hunters or the hunter on a budget. 😉

Cloak Enchants

Major Agility – This enchant adds 22 agility. This is the best cloak enchant for a hunter unless you’re an Engineer – in that case it’s…

Flexweave Underlay (Engineers only) – This enhancement adds 23 agility to your cloak, plus it also turns your cloak into a parachute. Awesome… simply awesome.

Bracer Enchants

Greater Assault – This enchant adds 50 attack power to bracers. For the hunter on a budget, Striking is the cheaper alternative, but provides only 38 attack power.

Fur Lining – Attack Power (Leatherworkers only) – This Leatherworker-exclusive enchant provides 130 attack power to bracers.

Glove Enchants

Major Agility – This enchant provides 20 agility to gloves. The best enchant for Marksmanship and Survival hunters.

Crusher – 44 attack power to gloves. This is the best glove enchant for Beast Mastery hunters.

Precision – Adds 20 hit rating to gloves for hunters that need hit.

Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket(Engineers only) – Enables engineers to fire a rocket, which can crit, every 45 seconds. The best all-around glove enchant if you’re a hunter engineer. For PvP, it’s best to use when needed, but for PvE it can be macro’d into all shots for added DPS because it’s not on the Global Cooldown. Just add /use 10, which is the glove slot item, to any shot macro.

Example:

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/cast [pettarget, exists] Kill Command
/use 10
/cast Steady Shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

Belt Enhancements

Eternal Belt Buckle – This adds a gem socket to a belt.

Leg Armor Kits

Icescale Leg Armor – This armor kit provides 75 attack power and 22 critical strike rating. This is the best DPS leg enchant available for hunters. Nerubian Leg Armor is the cheaper alternative, providing 55 attack power and 15 critical strike rating.

Frosthide Leg Armor(PvP and soloing) – This leg armor adds 55 stamina and 22 agility. It adds a bit of added DPS by way of the 22 agility, but it also provides some extra survivability for PvP and soloing situations. Jormungar Leg Armor is the lesser and cheaper alternative, which is good while leveling.

Boot Enchants

Superior Agility – Adds 16 agility to boots. Best DPS enchant for MM and SV hunters not in need of additional hit rating.

Greater Assault – Adds 32 attack power to boots. Best DPS enchant for Beast Mastery hunters not in need of hit.

Icewalker – Adds 12 critical strike rating and 12 hit rating to boots. Best enchant for all hunters in need of hit rating.

Tuskarr’s Vitality(PvP) – This adds 15 stamina and an 8% movement speed increase to boots. This is the best PvP boot enchant for Marksmanship and Survival hunters unless you’re an engineer, then in that case it’s…

Nitro Boosts – These add 24 critical strike rating to boots, plus they have an on-use effect that increases run speed by 150% for 5 seconds. This is the best PvE and PvP (sorry, but not in arena) boot enchant for engineers.

Note: Nitro Boosts cannot be used in arena.

One Hand Weapon Enchants

Exceptional Agility – 26 agility to melee weapons. Good for dual wielding Marksmanship and Survival hunters.

Superior Potency – 65 attack power to melee weapons. Good for dual wielding Beast Masters.

Accuracy – This enchant adds 25 critical strike and hit rating. For hunters in need of hit rating.

Titanium Weapon Chain(PvP) – This item reduces disarm effects by 50% and adds 28 hit rating. While not the best choice for PvE, this enhancement is invaluable for PvP due to the reduced time on disarm effects. This item should be on one of your 1h weapons if you PvP.

Two Hand Weapon Enchants

Massacre – 110 attack power to a 2H weapon. This is the best 2H weapon enchant for hunters.

Titanium Weapon Chain – 50% reduced disarm effects and 28 hit rating. For PvP only.

Ranged Weapon Scopes

Heartseeker Scope – This scope adds 40 critical strike rating to a bow or gun. This is the only scope a hunter should ever use, period.

Gems

Gems are a major asset when it comes to reaching the hit cap. After reaching the hit cap, though, we should be focusing on socketing the other gem slots with Agility, since per point, Agility provides greater benefit than strictly focusing on Attack Power.

1 Agility = 1 Attack Power (Both Melee and Ranged)

1 Agility = 0.02% Critical Strike Rating

1 Agility = 0.04% Dodge Rating

1 Agility = 2 Armor

Consumables

The Burning Crusade introduces the concept of Battle and Guardian Elixir categories, with players only allowed one of each to be active at a time. Flasks count as both a Battle and Guardian Elixir, causing the amount of consumables you need for raid night to be less.

  • Flask: Flask of Relentless Assault
  • Battle Elixir: Fel Strength Elixir, Elixir of Major Agility
  • Guardian Elixir: Elixir of Major Mageblood, Elixir of Draenic Wisdom, Elixir of Major Fortitude
  • Potions: Super Healing Potion, Super Mana Potion, Super Rejuvenation Potion, Haste Potion
  • Food: Oronok’s Tuber of Agility (Quest Reward from “I Was A Lot Of Things…”), Grilled Mudfish, Ravager Dog or Warp Burger
  • Miscellaneous – Scroll of Agility V, Scroll of Strength V (Can be used on your pet to slightly increase its DPS) Unlike Power Word: Fortitude and Scroll of Stamina V, Scroll of Agility V and Scroll of Strength V stack with Grace of Air Totem and Strength of Earth Totem, respectively. And, of course, plenty of ammunition to ensure you don’t run out mid-run!
  • Weapon Oil – Superior Mana Oil

Now discussing:

[Items] The Big List of Hunter Gems, Enchants and Glyphs

Update number 3: Added some more glyphs and removed old ones. Also added wowwiki links to all the factions, and some more buff food.

Update number 2: Added a consumables list!

Update: Added a bit more formatting to the list, Glyphs and more comments on enchant choices! Also added wotlkwiki links to the factions needed for head and shoulders enchant. These pages also provide reputation guides.

This list contains all the new Wrath of the Lich King gems, enchants and glyphs that are useful for a hunter. Other classes that benefit from almost the same stats (such as rogues) may find something useful in here as well. This list focuses mainly on agility, (ranged) attack power, hit, crit, intellect, stamina, haste, armor penetration and probably some other bizzare physical DPS stat that i forgot to mention here.

The items listed with the « Also good » tag are, as suggested, also good, but slightly inferior to the rest.

Sometimes I will be listing an optional hit rating enchant that, once you are hit capped, can be replaced with something else.

Any questions/suggestions and such will be taken into consideration, so feel free to leave feedback.

Anyway, enough talking, on with the list!

Enchants

Head

Shoulders

Note: If you don’t have time to start farming the rep, the « old-world » versions of the head and shoulders enchants are a perfectly viable alternative if you can buy them.

Cloak

Chest

Bracer

Hands

Note: Generally, MM hunters should focus on attack power, SV on agility, while BM are given a bit more allowance, though keep in mind that agility will also give you crit rating. My advice for beast masters is to choose depending on your lowest stat: if you have low AP get an AP enchant, low crit rating means getting an agility enchant.

Belt

Legs

Note: These shouldn’t be very expensive as leatherworkers learn them from trainers and make them while they level up their profession skill.

Feet

Note: Same rules as the « Hands » section apply here.

Rings (Enchanters ONLY)

Two-Handed Weapon

Note: No, at the moment, there is no agility enchant higher than the BC one (35 agi). Sad, isn’t it? 🙁

Gems

The gems are classified under the color of the socket they can fill, followed by the color of the actual gem. Only the prefixes are listed. The wowhead links will take you to a list with all the gems that have those prefixes, thus being very handy for finding a gem of a certain quality.

  • Deft – agility/haste rating
  • Glinting – agility/hit rating

Note: I chose not to include any blue gems here simply because there are no blue gems that have better stats for a hunter than say a purple or green gem.

Major Glyphs

Note: I haven’t included all hunter glyphs in the list, as not all offer big DPS boosts. I chose to list only a select few. Nevertheless, here is the complete list.

Note: Minor glyphs are really more utility-based than DPS, so I only list 2 that are the most useful. You can choose a third one from this list.

  • Glyph of Feign DeathLower FD cooldown means more efficient DPS as you can dump your aggro more often. Usable by all specs.
  • Glyph of Mend PetWill increase your pet’s happiness by 20 on the first tick. Useful for long boss fights when your pet suddenly decides he’s hungry or when you just resurrected him as an emergency in-combat Feed Pet. Usable by all specs.

Buff food

Note: Plenty of buff food to choose from, so I recommend you follow the same advice I gave you on enchant choices. Also, most of the food below gives very similar buffs, and in some cases, even the same.

Flasks, elixirs and potions

And that concludes the list for now, but I will do my best to keep it updated.
