Easily Book Campgrounds and RV Parks in Lakeland, Florida

Lakeland RV parks and campgrounds offer guests the benefit of being close to Orlando and Kissimmee to the east and Tampa and Sarasota to the west, while still surrounded by nature. Lakeland, and the Central Florida region, can compete with the best in the South, like the popular panhandle metros of Destin and Panama City.

Many baseball teams still hold their spring training pre-season exercises and exhibition games in the Lakeland area, most notably perhaps being the Detroit Tiger’s. Joker Marchant Stadium is home of Publix Field, where after the Tigers have warmed up for a full season in Detroit, the venue becomes the regular season spot for the local Flying Tigers, a name that celebrates the parent organization and the local area’s history with human flight.

Speaking of names, take a wild guess at how Lakeland came to be named. The area is home to about 40 lakes and large ponds, making it an ideal spot for non-coastal fishing and paddling. The best known lake in the city would probably be Lake Hollingsworth, which is a near-perfect circle that provides waterfront access in the midst of an urban setting. Along its banks are both Florida Southern College and the Lakeland Yacht and Country Club. Pretty fancy!

Lakeland’s history points to a once thriving Native American presence, and after that the tremendous success of the citrus industry. Most of America’s oranges are grown Florida, and the Lakeland area has many groves to visit, even though it’s no longer the primary driving force behind the local economy.
